a) Why is it hard to determine how big the Internet is today? Give several reasons.

the Internet is so huge, and they re are so many URLs and sites that its almost impossible to know the amount of sites. its like a whole other world. first of all you cant track how many people have email because they don't always use the computer with the same IP address.

b) Why are TCP/IP protocols so important to the functioning of the Internet? What do they do?
when sending things, the computer sending something searches for the other computers IP address, hence the loading signal that we get while waiting for something to send. These addresses are the only thing that keep the Internet from functioning, so they are vital. there wouldn't even be an Internet with out it. other wise you would just be stuck on the same page forever.

The diffrences and inevidable.

a Main frame computer is a room sided computer that is used for big organizations that need that kind of computer power, like Airlines, banks and bog organizations. before they used to be these huge room sized computers, now there about the size of a refrigerator, because of new technology. there not that cheap though, they can cost up to 1 million dollars, there pretty sensitive because they are kept in climate controlled rooms.

A microcomputer is pretty much a PC (personal computer). A PC is the computer that the average person has. they can be desktops laptops or workstations. thought a lot of desktops can be huge, they are MUCH smaller than a main frame computer, but also have WAY less memory. there also Much MUCH cheaper, you can get a working laptop or desktop for about 400$. and can be kept anywhere in the house, not in a "climate controlled room".

1-obviously many things influenced the start of the computer. first of all the word computer was fist used to describe a person that preformed calculations. but of course humans make many mistakes so 2 British guys imagined the construction of a mechanical devise that can do all this computing without the mistakes. and then 100 and some odd years later the computer was born for the same reason.

*the automobile and the television were very influential inventions.

Lets start off with the Automobile, and that's not only the car, its the train others. The invention of the car lead to so many other wonderful inventions like the airplane and the motor boat. These help people in an unfathomable way, not only do they get to travel to new places and learn new things, but it makes for a more diverse and culturally aware world. it makes traveling safer, and faster, and with the invention you can get more stuff done in less time. one negative aspect is the fact that life moves at a faster pace and you get lazy and dependant on automobiles, but i believe that the benefits outweigh the harms, because though we become dependent it changed the world in a positive way, and its the humans choice wither they want to be lazy about it or not.

next is the television. The television in my opinion is equally positive and negative. Its positives are, that the T.V has many souses of news and educational programs which has helped educate the common folk that wouldn't necessarily pick up a book or news paper to read the current events or other info, and not only that but we can get news from across the world within a couple of minutes. another is it serves as a way of relaxation (when used properly). the negatives are that people can spend way to much time watching tv, watching useless programs and just become lazy, another is that is becomes some peoples only souse of information and alot of the times the TV new programs can be really bias. many Americans revolve their lives around TV, which is very unhealthy. The tv is a wonderful invention when used properly but when not, it can be a very dangerous and negative invention.

lastly there is the Computer. Like the others in connects to you the rest of the world and makes a stronger global society.it can be a good souse of information. the negative much like the others in the laziness factor. but i defiantly say the computer is a better inveton and its pro's defiantly outweigh the con's.
